A steady, safe place for you to land as you begin your practice.
Social Work Supervision
Starting out as a social worker is big. It's meaningful, stretching, and often a little overwhelming. Whether you're stepping into government or non-government practice, these early years shape the foundation of who you become as a practitioner.
I remember my own beginning, full of passion, hope, and a fierce desire to make a difference. I was 23, eager, and trying to hold more than any one person should. It wasn't until I allowed myself to be supported by seasoned mentors, supervisors and peers that I began to grow into the social worker I had hoped to be.
And now, on the other side of the table, I can tell you honestly: supervising new graduate social workers is some of the most energising work I do. Watching someone find their footing, trust their judgement, and grow into the practitioner they're becoming - it's a privilege, every single time.
What supervision looks like here:
My supervision is anchored in core social work principles; professionalism, integrity, critical reflection, cultural sensitivity, collaboration, ethical practice, and empowerment, while also making space for the bigger picture; your purpose, your values, your identity, and the kind of practitioner you're becoming.
Throughout your supervision, I address the three key functions of social work supervision using a relational and collaborative approach:
Education: A reflective space to strengthen your practice, skill development, deepen critical thinking, and grow your confidence as a new social worker.
Support: Warm, steady professional and personal support, a place to bring the real stuff, be witnessed, and feel held as you find your feet. A space that honours and respects your autonomy and emerging professional voice.
Accountability: Guidance to ensure your work is ethical, safe and sustainable, with thoughtful attention to decision-making, boundaries and responsibilities. There's space for curiosity, compassion and gentle challenge.

A bit about me...
Hi, I'm Laura. I'm an AASW accredited social worker and accredited supervisor with over 20 years' experience in social work across government, non-government, higher education, leadership and now private practice. I've supervised countless students and early-career practitioners, supporting them to build confidence, navigate complexity, and grow into their professional identity with steadiness and integrity.
How we work together:
Drawing on frameworks such as Internal Family Systems, Strengths-Based Practice, Trauma-Informed Practice, Attachment Theory, Anti-Oppressive Practice, and using a critical reflective lens, we explore:
-
Ethical and practice dilemmas
-
Nervous system regulation and practitioner wellbeing
-
Boundaries, values and professional identity
-
Complex cases and decision-making
-
The realities of working in systems
-
Your growth, confidence and professional development
Field of Practice:
My practice spans a broad range of community, health and social care settings, with experience supporting individuals, families and communities across the following domains:
-
Community allied health and multidisciplinary practice
-
Hospital social work across acute and sub‑acute settings
-
Local government: neighbourhood houses, outreach, early intervention and prevention
-
Community Development programs and projects
-
Youth work and youth mental health
-
Culturally and linguistically diverse communities
-
Mental health and recovery‑oriented practice
-
Disability and person‑centred support
-
Carer support, advocacy and brief intervention
-
Short‑term, solution‑focused counselling
I create a space where you can bring your questions, your uncertainties, your wins, your worries, and your hopes, and know they will be met with care, respect and grounded guidance.
You don't have to figure this out alone.
If you're looking for a supervisor to walk this part of the journey with you, I'd be honoured to be that person.
